Your looken at at least 300 pounds of live rock.... this is based on 1 pound per gallon. Usually people recommend from 1.5 pounds to 3 pounds per gallon.

The Lb/gal rule really is a total crock. The ammount of LR you need is totally dependant on what you want to do with your tank, what kind of LR you are useing, and what other forms of filtration you use. A properly stocked 300g tank with 150lbs of high quality rock, 180g sump filled with macros and a good quality skimmer rated for 5-600g is very likely to be just as healthy if not more so than a 300g with 900lbs of rock a 75g sump with a couple socks, bio balls and a lame skimmer.

Your grouper will want caves more than swimming space, and the more caves he has, the more you will see him. I know that sounds wierd, but its true. Maybe it is security.

As JWorth said, clean those canisters often. I would use seachem's matrix in there, in time it functions just like live rock, can be rinsed, and isn't de-nuding a reef somewhere. Try it, I swear by it. It is one of the few filtration media I have used that will actually remove ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.

good luck.

+1^ seachems Denitrate dose the same thing also a buddy of mine has had good sucess with it.

To the OP, nothing wrong with useing your FX5's and AC's for added flow and or places to house chemical media (carbon/phos ban etc) but I would highly suggest you think about getting a HOB overflow and a cheap 55 to stuff under your 125 in order to grow macros (export nutrients) house gear and have a nice in sump skimmer. It will make your life easier and your tank healthier. Just my 2c, good luck!
