We all see saltwater tanks usually crammed from top to bottom with live rock. What about freshwater aquariums? About 2/3 of each of my aquariums contains large rocks and plenty of plants. My friend was telling me the other that im going to bust a tank but i have not had any problems yet. Aquariums are made for this right?

this video says it all

Aquariums can hold more weight then you could ever put in them.

That video is awesome!

That video is awesome!! I was recently told to put more LR in my tank and have been wonder how much she can take....

Now question, sorry if this seems stupid, do all tanks have tempered bottoms? The video said tempered and I would assume that if a 10 gal does, they all do but one can never be too careful with 55 gals of water....lol

As long as there isn't a pressure point you are fine.

I had over 300lbs of fossilrock in my 180g with some of the pieces being about 80-90lbs each with no problems.

Great topic! I'm currently working on a new fake dirt bottom made the same way DIY foam/cement backgrounds are made. My last one was cement poured into mold I dug in ground with no foam, just thick slab of portland cement. At 3" thick and fitted to 125g tank it was extremely heavy even if in two pieces.
I wasn't worried about the weight on the glass itself; I sprayed a spiral ring of expanding foam on bottom, let dry and expand so it would compress itself to be level. I was worried about the excessive weight causing me to accidentally drop and break glass. I decided to make a new one out of cemented foam braced by eggcrate so I didn't have to break my back pulling it out with lachet straps for maintenance.

I have big RES turtles so I can only use big rocks, which are harder to clean and only plastic grass from craft stores that need to be cemented into the bottom. I'm considering putting some boulders (about size of mini keg) in. Now I know I can
