Im interested in upgrading to a 55 or 75 gallon tank so I can keep RBPs. Ive looked around but the majority seem to be in the 140 range. How much should I pay for a tank this size? I prefer not to use craigslist but I am having issues finding decent priced tank.
Thanks

Use craigslist. Just make sure you inspect the tank fully, ask when the last time the tank held water, and when you get the tank home, fill it up outside or in your garage and let it sit for a day or three.

that way you will reduce the odds of getting burned.

If you are positive that you want to avoid CL, alot of petstores will sell tanks for "1 dollar per gallon" but this typically only includes tanks 55g or smaller.

hope this helps

I say at most 1.50 per gallon. And then maybe another hundred for a stand

I'd say pay no more than $150 if you buy on craigslist, and if you buy on craigslist make sure it's at least the aquarium/stand/filter. I got my 55 with stand, canopy, and a fluval 305 canister filter for $75, but I consider myself kinda lucky.

Only splurge going $200 or so if it includes some other fancy stuff like gravel/substrate, decorations, etc.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with going with craigslist. I have purchased quite a few fish tanks on there. They key is to get them down in price a little bit and to also find the ones that are still up and running. That way you can get them at a good price and also make sure they hold water.

Ok thanks, is it really required for a stand. I have a desk and bookshelf where I keep all my reptiles, feeders, and any other creature I have at the moment. I have the whole desk empty.

Yeah, a 55 or 75 gallon tank is going to weigh roughly 500 or 700 lbs respectively. I would not trust it on a desk, but it depends on the contruction of the desk.
