How much space is required for a fishroom?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have done that. I was afraid i was losing interest but I was not. I just did not have much time for fishkeeping because the school 2015-16 school year was super stressful. I have been a dedicated fishkeeper since i was in 1st grade and i am not just going to stop now. Yesterday for example i did a water change on my 6 tanks. I was never losing interest in fish. I was afraid i was, but the truth was that i didn't have time and now I do have time.
So you are still in school? How are you going to finance this, and did Dad approve it?

I am still in school. I have some money saved up. I talked to my dad about it and he did not really have a problem with it. He just does not want me to put fish downstairs since his bedroom is downstairs and we are going to put in new floors upstairs and my tanks need to go somewhere. I also would like more space for fish stuff and with a shipping container i can have larger tanks.

the container seems to be more promblem then it is worth. I would trash that idea then just get a nice big tank like a 125 then see where your at interest wise.

I also think the large container is not the right way to go about it. I would look up some plans for a greenhouse. Anything you keep outside could greatly limit what you can keep, depending on where you're located.

Where are you located?

I live in SLC utah. A container is MUCH cheaper than building a greenhouse and it has marine grade plywood floors. I am going to insulate it and heat it and heat the tanks, so i will be able to keep tropical fish.

Sounds good to me. My bedroom is my fishroom and i only have 2 tanks in there. You are lucky you can do something like this because i am soon going to be selling aquaponic veg to sustain my fish addiction. Good luck
