how much to feed fry

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I try to feed my con fry a colored flake so that it is very easy to tell when they are full.

I buy a generic red colored flake and when all there tummy are red i put a little more in and that it.

I change the water in my fry tanks every other day to remove the uneaten food. Having a bare bottom really helps out.

I would guess for 100 fry you would need around a teaspoon of finely crushed flake a day.

I only ever feed once per day. And the continue to peck at the left overs thru out the day.

Convict fry

I had my first fry in August. I fed crushed flakes twice a day. They're all alive still. Whatever I could pinch between my fingers. Not that much. They will eat it all. The big ones go to the top, while the ones at the bottom are afraid. So I take the food and swish it to the middle so they could all get some. Its been about a month and all of their bellies are round and they're big now! :') Make sure you ground the flakes with your fingers, enough so that its almost a powder. That way they can all get some. Either way... when I'd feed the adults they would pick at the large flakes and still eat. So yep.I say a teaspoon is too much.
