Ive got a friend who just bought a 5 gallon tank and said he got 2 oscars. "Excuse me, a 5 gallons, and you bought what?" I asked. I went to see for myself, and sure enough, he has albino oscars (2inches/each) in a 5g. One what laying on its side and its eye was getting puffy.
Anyways, I told him that tank isn't near big enough for those fish, even at there size. I have about 6 tanks I'm not using, and he's interested in my 38g, and was wondering what you guys thought would be a fair price. The used 38g tank has: knockdown stand w/doors, glass top, oak plastic trim. No heater or filtration, just the bare setup.
What o you guys think a fair price would be? Or what would a new 38g and stand cost?

40 bucks maybe 50
it would be more expensive new but its a used setup and hes your friend
hook him up!!

be a friend and do it for a buck a gallon... and tell him to start saving up for a bigger tank and more filtration... or tell him to bring the fish back to where he got them

If I had 6 tanks not being used and a freind needed one there would be no cost. If the person was a real freind and not just a person you knew. I would only ask that when that person upgrades again in a year for those fish that they gave the tank back. But if they wanted to keep it then maybe 20-30 bucks to a freind.

20 and a beer ,,, btw whats this have to do with filtration?

Well, he's a good friend, but I've done alot for him in the past and got no return back. He's kinda a freeloader, so I wouldn't sell it to him for close friend price, especially since he's sold me things before for barely under new price before. I think he should return the fish, but he kikes them. I was kinda thinking $40 with the stand. I have a 55g show tank that he would like, but don't think he's got the money for that. He is on a budget, and I have a bunch of powerheads. I'm not a big fan of undergravel filtration, but thought I could sell him a P.H. for real cheap and he'd just have to pick up the undergravel tray and tube. Does this sound like a good budget way to go, or should he just get a hang-on back unit? Haven't looked at smaller filtration units since moving to bigger, wet/dry unit years ago, any ideas how much a hang-on filter would cost for a 38g?
