When I do water changes I mix the water with condition in jugs and pour it in. Its a real pain in the butt.

I'd like to start using a python. Lets say I want to replace 50 gallons of water on a 100 gal tank. Do I use enough prime for 50 gallons or 100?

:(:(:(

the label is very clear..........dose for the whole tank if you mix in the tank.............

you got a lot of quick replies which are incorrect .:irked:

better to be silent than give out wrong information.

I only treate the new water, prime cost to much to waste. I fill two 20 gallon trash cans with water and put enough prime for 20 gallons in each, then pump them into the sump.

this is fine :)

This reply might be a little bit off topic but I'll post it anyways.

I've never used Prime and in my case, don't see a need for it. I simply use a regular dechlorinator/dechloraminator. I also don't follow the direction of one drop per gallon. I just spray it on the plastic tub and let the pump do its magic.

With regards to your question, dosage for 50 gallons should be fine and a bit over it should be fine as well. Now if you douse half of the bottle, it might be a different story.

prime is a regular dechlorinator / dechloraminator :confused::confused:

DIRECTIONS: Use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 200 L (50 gallons*) of new water. For smaller doses, please note each cap thread is approx. 1 mL). This removes approximately 0.8 mg/L ammonia, 1.2 mg/L chloramine, or 3.3 mg/L chlorine. May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. Sulfur odor is normal. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite in an emergency, up to 5 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30 °C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose.
