I read somewhere that King Kamfas like their water aged. So does that mean you change only 10% water once a week? They say it's the genes from Synspilums, why they like aged water. Personally, I change about 20% every 10-14 days for Nikko.

The first 4 pictures are of Nikko, all taken today.
The last 3 pictures are of the King Kamfa I got today.

I would stick with your 20-40% waterchanges but do them once a week. Aged water is not necessary if using a good water treatment like seachem's prime or safe.

Don't know of any fish that benefits from high nitrate. Fresh and clean water is universally beneficial for ALL fish.

I'm not sure about the stress coat stuff. I like the concentrated stuff like prime or safe. It smells awful but it lasts a long time.

I used to use prime.
But out of the total 4 years I've had fish I've used stress coat for at least half that time.
Only illness I ever had was ich on one fish due to me not knowing, you can't put hot then cold then hot then cold water into tank while water changing.
