How much water should be changed for a King Kamfa

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Total dissolved solids - molecular organic and inorganic substances suspended in water.

Thanks,
Now what Diesel said makes perfect sense to me. I guess I never had problems due to always removing the same amounts of water each time.

Kamfa's like aged water,

that's has nothing to do with your WC cycle or the amount you change.

They like water that is not straight from the facet. ie: staged barrels of water that have stabilized their ph /gases..

critical no, but they seem to thrive if you do!

Wouldn't this theory actually apply to ALL aquarium fish

yes it does apply to all, but not easy to manage unless you live in a warm climate.

IME, Kamfa seem more susceptible to it. at least with the two I've kept. ymmv

what I read there seemed to be a misconception about what is aged water
but Ty, I do need to change my reply.
If you cannot age your water, than 30% is the most I'd do at any one time.
using the normal additives suggested....

I disagree. As long as water is properly treated and not saturated with gases and values don't swing, I do not see any significant difference with aging. This could actually be a detriment if this aging process limits your frequency or volume of WC'S.

I ask, did you come to this conclusion through data or experience?

some of it is experience with delicate fish and some from advice/research
The way I understand it ,water out of the tap is not degassed quickly and the PH fluctuates until that is completed.

I have seen everything from lack of appetite to a dropped kok after a non-aged water change.

The advice came from a breeder I had met from Vietnam when FH's first started to come into the US.
The fish he displayed gave me no reason to question his knowledge and from the research I've done backed up what
he was stating. I'm sure there are people more informed than I but it is what has worked for me.

My current Kamfa will be 3 years old next month..

Ahhhhhhhhhhh I love the 3rd one and the 1st one has a nice big body. I'm loving both of them.
How much did they sell the 3rd one for?? And do you introduce females?

thx bud..no love for #2.lol
3rd one was inexpensive..relatively speaking ;)
Nope to breeding for now. Gonna just concentrate on their health and growth for awhile. Would love for them to live a very long time

BTW, #1 is in a 150gal by himself. #2 is in a 90 by himself and # 3 is sharing a 125 with my "super red dragon" with a divider. Sorry for delayed responses
