So I'm thinking about buying a 180 gallon 6x2x2 tank from a guy off craigslist.

Comes with 2 AC110's some heaters air pumps some decorations and gravel, stand canopy. Full Set-up.

Guy says he is unsure how old the tank is since he bought it from someone else last year and now his wife is making him get rid of it! but no leaks or scratches.

So how much do you think is a fair price for this whole setup? This is in Central NY so there are no crazy socal deals around here...

glass w/ overflows-$350
glass w/out overflows $250-300
Acrylic w/overflow unscratched $400
Acrylic w/overflow scratched up $225-275
Acrylic w/out overflow unscratched $300-350
Acrylic w/out overflow scratched up $175-225

My $0.02

It is a glass tank, I do not believe it has overflows.

But as stated in the OP, it comes with a stand, canopy, 2 decent filters and a bunch of other stuff that certainly adds up quick.

Anyone else have any opinions?

The tank, stand, and canopy are what you are paying for. The 2 decent filters and bunch of other stuff really shouldn't come into play. They may not even be the kind of filter you want to run. You may not like the type of gravel, might not want to run air pumps, etc, etc.

It's kind of like a car with fancy wheels and a stereo. To most people those don't make a bit of difference and in no way increase the value of the vehicle.

I agree, but pretty much everything included would either be used in this tank or one of my other tanks, except for the gross bright blue gravel.

So I can probably get him to sell it to me for $600, how does that sound?

I wouldn't even consider it for $600. You could almost find a new 180 w/stand for that amount.

Sounds good, here is new york people are selling 90 gallon setups for $500! Good Luck

Yea but were you live, here in new york everything is ALOT more expensive. Since people here make more money everything is pricier. So if i were to work here and live where you are, it like everything would be extremely cheap.

To be 100% honest, my prices given where what I would expect to pay in my area for everything you posted. I missed the part about the "no scratches" but I took everything else into consideration. :)

For $600 I can get a glass 240 with a stand but no canopy and 3 405's, another $200 gets an acrylic 240 with canopy and FX5.

Actually tanks, especially used, are as much or more here because large tanks are few and far between.
