How much would you pay?

See, that's what I'm thinking. No way is a 4' X 12' sheet of 5/8" extruded. But what if it's Lexan (polycarbonate) or something like that instead of acrylic? I guess if it was used for windows they probably wouldn't use polycarbonate as it would yellow over time from the UV rays...?

They're asking $400 a sheet, but I'm sure I could talk them down.

At $400 a sheet, id buy them regardless of if its lexan (polycarbonate) or plexi (acrylic) .. I paid $450 a sheet for 1/2" cell cast acrylic sheets that were 8x4

I cant see someone using lexan for windows though, as it will yellow over time, and generally costs twice as much as acrylic.. also scratches alot easier..

I think i could make a very safe bet that the sheets for sale are cell cast acrylic...

Id at least go have a look and check their condition out...

My thoughts as well. I'm fairly certain it's acrylic but not 100%.

I'm going to offer $200 a sheet based off the fact that I'm not 100% sure it's acrylic and see what she says... :)

They agreed to $250 a sheet. That's $750 total for 144 square feet of 5/8" acrylic...So $5.20 a sq. ft.

Now, do I do it or what? So tempting...To compare, I was quoted $7.50 a sq. ft. for 3/8" at the plastic dealership.

Trying to find an "average" price online and I can't seem to find 5/8" acrylic. Either 1/2" or 3/4". But a sheet of 4' X 10' .5" acrylic is $603.

Think how large of a table saw table I'd need to rip these sheets lengthwise...

:(

Nah... You don't need to cut anything. Make it a 12' x 4' x 4' tank... Just buy one more 8' x 4' sheet later for the 4' x 4' side panels. :headbang2
That would be over 1,400 Gallons. :naughty:
