How much??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My 125 was $300, plus the $75 for the stand, $90 for the filters, $20 for the sand, plus about $150 in the past for fish (before I kept natives) and who knows how much on food! Its well worth it though, its a great hobby to have!

6 months ago i got my first tank and ive prob. spent $3500 plus $50 a week for food and maintenance and im looking to drop a couple more grand come christmas time(i buy myself gifts;) ) but my spending is tiny compared to many other fine MFKers!:cool-1:

Id have to guess in the last 2 years 3-4000.And I got most of my tanks for free.thats equiptment fish and construction materials for fixing up my fishroom and building the new room for my fishroom.I bought the 3 125g one of the 75g and one 55g all used but all the rest of the tanks were free

I never tried, nor desired, to add up this hobby's total cost over the past 40+ years. If I don't even consider the hundreds of tanks and thousands of fish I've bought and sold over the years, I'm currently at a point where I bought a 7500+ square foot building to house well over 100 tanks/bins totalling over 20,000 gallons. Even if I could somehow perform the math for over 4 decades worth of spending on this hobby, I'd probably push myself to eat a bullet once I saw the bottom line.

haha i was thinking about it one day a realized i had over 35 dollars just in community fish for my 20 gallon. i probably have spent around 200 in the past few months but i dont have much money to spend and my dad helps me out sometimes.

I don't keep track because it'll probably make me sad.

i've had a fishtank< for atleast 15 yrs, but in the last 5 yrs i've been 'addicted' , as my old roomate said 'it's your drug'. it's what makes me happy and have something to show for it.
i can prove about 5,000 but the free&gragesale stuff & food whoknow's
about twice to 3 times a year i go to my favorate fish store and ken the owner(King ed petcentre, burnaby) he sees me and he lights up , as he ksnows i'll drop 2-3hundred bucks!
i'll come home , do my happy dance, put things together.
sit back &watch the fish= PRICELESS
