How often and how much to feed 5 1inch RBP?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
another food you might want to look into, especially at that size, is krill, both krill and shrimp contain high levels of astaxanthin, which can help to achieve more red coloration.

plus keeping them well fed will be great for fin nipping and cannibalism too, the trick is to do water changes daily (15%) and feed 3 to 4 times small portions and remove any uneaten food...

I'm feeding my P's flake food 2x a day and bloodworms once a day. Is that nutricious enough for my boys? They tear up the flakes which i think is good.

i would be mixing it up a little bit more than that, high quality flake food and bloodworms are good, but adding shrimp, krill, and tilapia would be much better

It's been 2 weeks now and my 5 P's are very active, eating all of the flake food and bloodworm's. I can definitely see the growth in all of the fish. The P's are about 4 months old now. When do they start to get their color? I actually see some red coloration off the base of their tails. Also, I still have 2 goldfish in their that are still kicking. Their tails are definitely nipped but when do you think these guys will take the goldfish out?

have you expanded their diet at all? at 4 months, they should be in the 3-4 inch range and definitely need to be eating more than flake food and blood worms, the main part of their diet should be shrimp, fish (whole or fillet), or pellets.

at 4 months, they should be showing plenty of red... here's a shot of one of mine at 4 months.

My p's must be only 2 months old then. They are still completely silver with just a hint of red on the lower tail. I've only had them for 2 weeks so they only have been eating the bloodworms and flake food. What should i be introducing next? So at 4 inches they should get their color. They are supposed to be completely silver at the beginning stages right.

here is what mine looked like color wise..
