How often clean FX5?

So I was wondering: how often do I have to take out the FX5 trays and clean out the foam on the sides? And when do I replace the side foam?
(I know I am not supposed to rinse the bio-max at all. Am I correct?)

Close. But that's 12 times a year. Every 5th Friday is 10 times a year. You're over cleaning it.

i do mines once a month,,just for the reason being my filter pads gets clogged..and it restricts the flow...

X2 on what everyone said. Just to add, don't clean your sponges/media with tap water. Get some tank water in a bucket or something to rinse your stuff out
