I fed my fish thawed raw market shrimp for the first time yesterday, they all loved it! I'm wondering how often you guys feed your fish this? I mainly feed my fish New LIfe Spectrum pellets and then frozen brine shrimp and blood worms a couple times a week. (with veggies every now and then too) I'm just wondering how often to add the shrimp into the feeding schedule. Once a week?

I normally don't feed my market shrimp . . . I just thaw it out and give it to my fish. :p :p :p

It all depends on what type of fish you have, how large they are, and how much filtration you got.

The larger your fish, the less often you are going to have to feed them. Smaller fish require more feedings. Generally though, if you are feeding your fish market shrimp you should do so every other day.

Predatory fish are going to be more demanding of food than say if you fed it to live bearers.

It can quickly bring down your water quality if you don't remove any leftovers, so make sure only to feed what they will definitely eat.

shrimp is the daily staple for my cichla. my guys are picky and wont take anything else. but it gets expensive. i was going through an 8lb bag in about 3 weeks. at market price, do the math :)

last night i tried tilapia and they loved it, so i think this is what i will use from now on

i feed all my fish shrimp everyday..i give a day off in the week and feed them rest of the days. i also feed squid sometimes but its mostly shrimps from the market

Thanks for all the replies.:)

The fish that got the shrimp are two 3" senegal bichirs and a 4" clown knife in the 37 gallon tank. That tank has an aquaclear 70 on it. I change the water twice a week, about 30%. I did find a couple pieces of leftovers today so I took them out.

I also fed the fish in my 90 gallon, there were no leftovers! Fish in there are in my signature, none of them are full grown, except maybe the otto cats. Filtration is an XP4 and an AC 110. Although I am concerned about the filtration in there as there are always particles floating around. I don't know what's going on with that. I know the tank is overstocked, but as I said, none of the fish are even close to full grown.

every other day for my giant gourami RTC and silver arowana, once a week for my bichirs. just a treat.

this is the staple food of my channa along with mussel. i feed sporadically although every 2-3 days. ive just gone to 1-2 days though, they do love MP.

Everyday....lol
