How often do you test your water?

I don't think I ever tested the water in a FW setup during my 21 years of fish keeping. I didn't even test the water in my SPS saltwater tank, never had any problems.

lol never haha even in a new established tank xD ive nver had experience fish deaths because of ammonia spike ...
I test when setting up a new tank, and when changing stock levels. Once the params are stable, establish a water change / maintenance schedule that will keep it in the right range. From then on rarely unless problems arise. This works well as long as I keep daily observation on the inhabitants.
