Just for the curiosity sake, I was wondering how often everyone vacuums their substrate. Gravel in particular. Are there any who vacuum one "side" of the tank one cleaning then do the other on the next? Once every week? Once Bi-weekly etc.

i do it once a week simply because the it worth keeping your fish healthy. the prices of fish can make you think its worth it.

every week for my sand just cuz it stays on top.. and bi weekly for my gravel..

same here!

I'd been doing it every week but was wondering if maybe I was being too thorough. I have one tank that seems to get a little hazy when I vacuum but the other 6 fresh don't.

once a week or every other.......i do the whole thing and it helps alot more than just doing a water change, it gets out all the decaying matter usually food and poop. gotta love the python. i used to have a batt operated one w/ a mesh bag to filter the water so u would'nt have to empty the water but it didn't work that well kinda a joke a just made the water cloudy w/o removing much detritus....that said if you're going to change the water in your tank i always vac the substate and usually rearrange the decor, jus tto confuse everyone.

It's been set-up for a few years. I have 1 Pleco in it that needs moved to another tank. 3 aus rainbows, a 9 inch kisser, a blue ram, a baby rhino plec, a small ud cat, and a 8" syno multi. I wouldn't have thought it could be overstocked. It's a 55 btw.
