How often to feed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed 3 times a day. Morning and evening I feed high protein/fat pellets and mussels at lunchtime (work from home). I´m also trying to push the growth rates of my clown loaches-so far 1cm every 3 months. Have to keep on eye on oxygen levels though.

My handfeed canadian night crawlers for my bichir and CK; the fire eel is a bit too small, so I give him some blood worms (creates a HUGE mess). Likewise for the flounder...

I do realize though that after a while, maybe 5-10min, the bloodworms lose their color and they get ignored, creating a huge mess in my white sand tank.

I feed once a day, usually around six or seven in the evening. I generally skip about one evening a week if my wife doesn't notice.

If she thinks I didn't feed them she will feed them. Unfortunately she feeds about twice as much as necessary so I get to do some extra cleaning in the sump about once a week to get the extra food out of it. I've tried and tried to explain that they don't need that much but just like everything else I say to her, it goes in one ear and out her ass.

Generally about once per day, sometimes I'll feed in the morning and then again at night. I also generally skip a day or so in the week when I have to work and go straight to class.

I feed once a day usually and twice a day on the weekends because I'm home more and have more time. Once in a while I might skip a day

3 times a day, morning frozen kirll, mysis, bloodoworms, and silversides, lunch they get a special cichlid growth formula, and flakes that the first 3 ingedients are kril, plankton, and spirulina algea, and some freezedried shrimp, and then at night more pellets and more freezedried. The tank is mainly sa/ca cichlids and bottom dwellers. They all eat the pellets. :)
