How often to YOU clean YOUR filters ?

I was wondering how often people clean their filters here. I have a FX5 on a 180 gallon tank with currently 4 fish in it. Pbass, oscar, ID shark, florida gar. I Clean it once a month. I ususally clean it 1 day after I do a water change. Trying to not wipe out all the good bacteria lol. So again how often do you clean your filter ? (By cleaning I dont mean new media I just mean giving it all a good rinse)

Ido mine about 1 time per mo. hob's and every 80days or so on cans I do lots of water changes so they never get clogged at all

I have an FX5 and an XP4 on my 225, and I usually go about 2-3 months between cleanings for each of them.

I have a 185 with Fx5 clean every 3- 4 months. 50% weekly water changes. I usually wait until I can see the flow slowing down a little then clean.
Always rinse media in aquarium water, not to kill off anything.

I do the EXACT same thing.

I usually do it to my HOBs when the flow starts to slow which is about 1-2 months.

 

[Hot Slime]

I clean out the filter when I see a reduced flow, so once every 4-5 months.

rinsing them with aquarium water is the smartest idea ive heard. I will have to try it ! I normally use my kitchen sink because of the spray nozzzle is on a hose and easily manuverd. So easy cleaning.
