Gonna be hard to do with a monster tank without increasing water bills. I usually do between 10-20% weekly depending on my nitrate level. As long as it is below 20ppm, I'm fine with it.
I do 20% weekly. I think the best thing to do would be to buy a nitrate test kit and see where your nitrates actually get to after a week with a 10% water change. If that number gets too high up it to 20% the following week, etc.
I change 50% weekly on all of my tanks. The water parameters are more stable this way because there is not enough time for waste to build up and impact ph or nitrate. I also overfilter my tanks (fx5 on a 75g, Fluval 405 on a 25g). Nothing leads to better health and longevity than large, frequent water changes.
Basically you just calculate how much nitrate raise each week and do the amount of water change to reduce that nitrate level back to where it was last week or lower
