just out of curiousity, how often do u guys do wc on discus tank? list ur gallons n # of discus. my lfs guys told me to do only weekly 50% wc. n daily vac of poop/waste. I was under the impression that daily 50%wc was mandatory, so is the 50% wc only recommended? just kinda interested in discus n wanna do hw before gettin them

also has anyone done 90% wc at once before?

I never do a 90% in ANY tank unless... I don't know, I've never needed to.

For my discus I only do a 25% every 2 weeks because the tank is super understocked with huge filtration.

a 55 gallon with 5 discus ranging from 3 inches to 6 inches with 2 sponge filters and do 50% w times a week. I've seen people only do 30% 2 times away.
it all depends on how fast you want your discus to grow.

back when i kept just discus i did 100% WC everyday and that was with about 8 gallons per fish

It just all depends on stocking density, filtration used, foods used (and how much), etc, etc. Lots of variables. Just have to find what works best for you. However, smaller discus will require more frequent water changes than larger (adult) fish. Daily for small fish is ideal, but not necessary to keep them alive. I have gone as far as 75% every other week on a tankful of lightly stocked adults. Again, lots of variables.
