I was given a black pacu last week and was wondering how rare they they are. I keep reading that they are but how hard to come by are they in the aquarium trade. No im not getting rid of him.:grinno:. I like him already. lol. I love watching him eat nuts.

They are pretty rare from what I hear. I have only seen like 15 in my whole experience with mfk. They cost a pretty penny . Nice to have one given to you! What size tank is yours in? Pics? How big is he?

She is in a 220. She's about 13-14 inch now. I know she'll get a lot bigger. She was givin to me by a friend who owns a lfs. He knew she was to big for the only tank he had to put her in. He just gave her to me. The guy that brought her in told him on the phone that she was 6 inch. Yah right. lol

one at my lfs hes about 6-7 inches and $15 not all too rare in Florida cause you probably already know that they terrorize our waterways. :(

wow no i didn't know that. I knew florida had a prob with carp and lionfish but not pacu. Dont worry. I don't believe in releasing not native fish. lol'

New to me. That's pretty cool that Florida fk can just go and catch the same fish people pay a lot of money for.

Many people pass off red belly pacu as black pacu and there is some genuine confusion between the two. Can you post a pic? I personally love pacu.

I personally love pacu, and I miss my old red belly from my profile pic. Good luck taking care of it! Would you mind posting a Picture, that would be greatly appreciated.
