I got fed up of my O's ripping up the take plants so I stuck them to the sides of the tank at the top by threading pipe through the base and suction cups and they have left them alone since. They still have a fake ball type plant and a few other bits and pieces to rearrange when the mood takes them though!

I have put in a small plastic tube sealed off at the ends and air filled so it floats. My oscar would pull it down to the bottom of the tank and release it to watch it shoot out of the water. It was his favorite toy until it hit the center brace and broke.

So what is the minumin tank size for a tiger oscar?

For one a 55g is the minimum, and a 75g is a better option because is has a wider footprint.

just make sure there is nothing sharp like ends of wood or rocks that the O can hurt himself on. Oscars are clumsy when they get spooked, other than that they will arrange their tank how they see fit.

I got him when he was about 5-6cm.
hes pretty smart,one day i opened the lid to feed him and he came up to the top of the tank and flicked his tail at me and covered me with water and it was dripping off my face.

yesterday when my dad went near his tank grouch opened his mouth as far as he could and showed his teeth to try and scare him,so dad got some frozen prawns out of the freezer and defrosted them and gave them to him then he was happy.

thanks for the ideas everyone i will probably just get some more fake plants for him to move or rearange the other ones this weekend when i clean the tank so he isnt bored.
By the way grouch is my oscar.
