How tall PVC pipe cave for clown Loaches?

I just walked in and saw them using the big pipe. The smaller pipe with the sponge filter on top gets used daily. The big one has fish swimming through all the time. Sometimes one clown Loach lays there but this time three were hanging out in there:

I have 3" dia pieces of bamboo for my 5" long CL's. They like the bamboo, but usually I see only 1 CL per piece of bamboo. Clown loaches video

I just looked at the tank and was wondering where my pleco was. For a brief second I thought he may have gotten out even though I knew this was liekly impossible. I had a panda garra go missing a few months ago but there should be no way a oleco could get out.

Fortunately he was just in a new spot. I've seen him swim through this but he's never fully been in this big pipe before.

It's interesting how I can still notice new things in the tank.

I had to lean over and take this pic from the side of the tank. I wasn't even looking at pipe initially. Though he was behind a lava rock in the middle of the tank.
