How the hell do I prevent brown algae???

I've noticed Brown Algae growing in my pond over the last few days. It seems to be growing on the pond plants between the leaves and spreading. All was well in the pond but I recently added some more fish and wondered if perhaps they had upset the balance, so I threw a bunch more plants in there hoping to bring it back in to line. Time will tell...
I had brown algae coating all the decorations / plants in one of my tanks for about a month. It just went away on its own after a while though. Maybe I'm just fortunate?

since i wrote this i read that the uvsterializers just kill single celled organisms like free floating algea. but no parasites.vaine111;2790018; said:

so maybe it's from too much light.
i get brown algae when i put a tank by the window.it gets too much light. a gummy nose pleco will take care of it.
I recently solved the problem of stringy brown algae in my pond. The solution was simple: plants. I'm no biologist but i figure this; The plants compete with the algae for nutrients (among which is uneaten fishfood and waste dissolved in the water) and the plants win, the algae dies off. I don;t use a lot of filtration in my pond and had recently added more fish to the pond. Straightway the algae appeared. Added more plants, problem solved.
