How the hell do you look after a puffer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For a tank that size you definitely have a few options you could look into... Im going to guess you want something slightly more active, so maybe you could try and see if any of these puffers are available:

Carinotetraodon salivator (Striped Red Eye Puffer)

Monotrete Abei (Abei Puffer)

C.Loreti (Red Eye Puffer) can maybe do 3F / 1M mix

C.Irrubessco (Red Eye Puffer) can maybe do 3F / 1M mix

M.Turgidus (brown puffer)

All of these remain quite small but will work for life in a 70G quite happily...

P.S. Im no puffer god...just another puffer enthusiast ;)

Cool stuff. Thanks :)

Oops, forgot about your snail breeding question...

I guess as long as temps don't get too overly cold or hot, then keeping snails in a bucket with a sponge filter should be okay too... just make sure to keep them fed...

Hey guys. I am thinking about what to do with my 70 gallon tank after i sell my pink tail chalceus and featherfin syno(when its bigger) and my knives pass on.

I thought puffers would be cool. Only thing is:
-my tank is too big for dwarf puffers
-bigger puffers are too big or brackish
-i have NO clue how to trim teeth.
-i have NO clue how i can keep crunchy food rolling on my tiny budget (getting bigger atleast), i just have frozen bloodworm, prima and earthworms
-apparently south american puffers need frequent trimming.

Can anyone help me with this?
IM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!

these guys chew prawns with the shell on, meal worms, crickets, dried shrimp, snails, crawfish, clams, muscles, crab, and occasional lobster tail.

so convert to brackish. I had a brackish tank for a hot minute, its not too bad in terms of care. A little tougher than fresh water, but no where near as bad as salt lol. Give it a go, its a neat experience to say the least.
