Yama asked this in the Photo Thread, So i started a new topic here. Help him out ya'll!!

.
Can any of you please tell me how successfully house several pike in an in closed space! Can it be done long term or is this a pipe dream? ive come with using pvc and large dithers. Oh The pikes i speak of is the cobra, or c.notophathalmus,?Help

i've found that you need a large tank, start when they are very small and introduce them at pretty much the same time, oh, I also find that keeping other Non Pike in the tank helps. I usually keep my Pikes with Parachromis species, like Jags, Mota's and fish of that type because the Parachromis usually keep the Pikes in check and the pikes don't have all the time in the world to fight each other, never gets out of hand either. Make sure there are plenty of hiding spaces for fish to call there own and I noticed that Pikes usually get aggressive when they are hungry, so try several smaller feedings daily instead of 1 large, I allow a day or two of fasting every week as well.

As Sicxspeed said. I started with them all young, large tank 125. I use plenty of African Root Wads. Instead of Parachromis though I like Viejas and SD's. Some people believe it is easier if you use say lugurbris and Sax's, But I have 3 Lugs at 10", 9" and 7". True they are still Sub adults and all hell could break lose at any moment but to this day I have not witnessed any aggro between my Pikes.
I believe it is cause I overstock and there is to much going on for them to really focus on any one individual.
If you look in the Pike Photo shoot you can see mine hanging out together. It would be nice if they
stay like that.

THANK YOU THANK YOU! Very gd info i will try using some of these techniques. Please continue to post if u think of anything else.

My only success has come when they have grown up together from a small size. The few times I have tried to add a new pike to an existing set up it always ends with one of the pike's being moved to another tank. No matter the tank size I have tried it in tanks as big as 300 gallon still with no luck.

I think adding them all together when small has to be the first step for sure. I have one 4 inch orange pike and tried to add a second slightly smaller orange to my 220g. It was pure homicide the bigger one bit onto the side of the head of the new one and basically shook him to death before I even had a chance to get the net out. A very painful learning experience. I guess I am stuck with just one pike. Sure hope it ends up being a girl.

i cnat really help him out i tryed to keep svenis with vens for a while in a grow out basically heres the dish onthe story it worked for like a week until the vens grew another inch and were dominating the sveni's and then basically ripped there tails off so i cant really keep more than two of the same together, even ina 75 gallon with them being 4 and 5inches respectively

You definitely can't add a smaller pike to a tank that already houses a larger pike. It is asking for trouble.
I had my XI and Johanna in a 125, they reached around 4" when I added my Marm at 6-6.5". I have had no problems.

That Marm sure is sexy......I'll take it off your hands for you if it ever becomes to aggressive for your tank, live feeders and all.......hahahaha.
