OK now here's a stupid question. Can you add water during a water change directly to the tank and then treat it? Can you add the Decholor to the tank and then add the water? Or, do I need to treat the water before I add back to the tank?

I have a python and want to know if I need a staging tank. I might get a large trash can, but my tanks are in my livingroom. What kind of pump can I get to pump to the tanks from the can?

I used to age, but then realized I was adding too many steps. Now I drain, dechlor, fill, in that order...

you add your dechlorinator to the tank before you refill. You dose for the total volume of the tank.

yes, it is safe to add dechlorinator to a partially-filled tank. as long as you add the dechlor before you start putting water back in, and keep filters turned off so any chlorinated water does not come into contact with the beneficial bacteria, you're fine.

keep in mind though that most people who do it this way use Prime. i don't know if other dechlorinators work within a different time frame.

I just add while filling

what i do is drain fill up a bin with water treat the bin for how many gals it is and then pump the treated water back into my tank to be safe and i also use prime but i have in the past drained it 75% and just added prime to the tank and just filled it up with the water hose
