I have an extra 10g tank that i am goin to use to breed guppies any suggestions on how to set it up..this will be my first breeder tank...

Guppies are very simple to breed, use any substrate, get a few plants for decor, fake or real, then a sponge filter and a heater to keep it around 80f and theyll breed just fine

is sponge filter necessary....i have and regular filter hanging over top......and also about how long is their breeding process

Nah. You don't need a sponge filter. But look at how big the gaps are in the intake pipe. You don't want baby guppies getting sucked up! lol!

Pretty quick.

The gestation period for a guppy is about 3-4 weeks. My livebearers usually drop only 20 or so.
Oh, and make sure to feed your guppies well and give them a varied diet. They need algae in their diet, so if there's no algae on the walls, put algae wafers in there for them. They also like mosquito babies if you can find them.

lol that happens with with my baby guppies all the time.. when i go to clean the filters i see at least 5-6 in there every time... still alive too..

What I would do is buy a sponge(any kind really) just cut it to fit the intake tube on the filter, then there u go,no more sucked up babys plus it cleans the tank a little better

there should be a thread titled "how NOT to breed guppies" LOL

no, seriously. Get a male, 2-3+ females, and presto! you've got babies :)
