How to breed Guppies

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Guppies breed like rabbits....only underwater.....and they're fish......oh. Never mind.:hitting:

all i did was throw a few guppies in a tank. i wasn't even trying to breed them. and next thing i know i have guppy fry.

Yup, just make sure you seperate the babies before mom and dad have them for dinner. Make sure to provide plants in the tank (live or fake) so that the fry have somewhere to hide.

What everyone else said, guppies would breed in a radioactive cesspool. I have a ten gallon but i want to get rid of the guppies as they are boring and are w*****.

I separated the males months ago and she is still giving birth. 1 female guppy =30 kiddies in a few months. Aparently they retain sperm.

One thing no one has mentioned is that Guppies hold sperm sacks for 6 months. After the courtship is over which I might add is never, the female holds sperm packets and can givebirth 6 months after the mating. I started breeding guppies and had a ball until I got MTS ( Multi tank syndrome ). Points to remember Guppies will eat their fry, have plenty of floating plants like Java moss where the fry can hide. They make a great snack. My first fry I got 9 babies. I was so excited LOL I still am when I see fry. In the end it was no suprise to see 200 0dd fyr when I came home from work.My breeding ended when an Endler somehow got into the guppy femaile tank. Pretty fish BUTmixed breeding which isnt good for a strain.
Now I am starting on different fish so have a million questions.
