tank size: a minimum of 2.5 gallons for a good life but the betta would be much happier in a 5 gallon aquarium.

tank mates:females can be housed together in a moderately large aquarium (10 gallons or more) but males should never be kept together unless in a very large and densely planted aquarum.

feeding:fish flakes, betta pellets/flskes, small chuncks of worm, shredded beaf heart, and anything small and swiming.

max size:2-3 inches max unless a difrent variaty.

temp:they are tropical fish and thus should be housed in a 75-82 degree water but will tolerate cold waters.

life span: 5 years if given the appropiate space and food.

filtration: this is optional if u wish to do water changes daily/weekly for an aquarium.

substrate: gravel and sand work fine for this but no extremely sharp rocks.

decorations: generaly any decoration is fine as long as it does not have sharp edges on it.

conclusion: betta are great fish with good personality and should be treated well. a betta is also a first fish for many of us mfker's and i think all of you will agree with me on the fact that these are interesting fish and are great pets!

Just to clarify, the fish in reference is Betta splendens. There are hundreds of species actually with varying requirements.

Based on the temperature given, I disagree that Betta splendens will tolerate coldwater. Could you please elaborate how cold exactly it is being referred? Coldwater could simply imply 22 degrees Celsius and below which is inadvisable as this renders the fish vulnerable to fin damage, bacterial infections, etc.

Female bettas have various personalities so whether a sorority is possible or not, it simply goes down to trial and error. Some females are as aggressive as the males and may not work in a community setup at all.

They will absolutely tolerate colder temps (low 70s) but this will cut their lifespan in half even though they'll appear to be fine.

I think the write up was a little vague, try using whole words and sentences, but not half bad.

and what was that?

Wasn't bad. I liked it. Maybe say they can tolerate room temperature waters or something. To me saying cold water is like 70 or below really. Can they tolerate cold water like goldfish do. People refer Goldfish as cold water fish, so when you say Betta's can tolerate cold water, most probably think cold as a goldfish can take. Just my opinion though. Congrats, though. A diamond in the rough kind of post.:)
