Ive caught midas, mayan, and tilapia on some simple walmart jigs, try attaching a spoon, or the smallest size yozuri lure works well too. Ive had the most success probably with the little rubber neon green jig. Best of luck!
how to catch canel fish?

thanks yea i went this morning and i use night crawlers and nothing i used frogs and mullet and nothing i was fish by crome and 8th st and i didnt get so much as a nibble
i was down there end of june didnt have much luck my self. i was in the same area. go to that truckstop gas station on the corner of chrome. he sells shiners get some.
When I go collecting for my tank or pond I just use a size 12 hook (take the barb off to minimize damage to fish) and a red worm. I usually sight fish, look for the fish I want then drop the bait in front of his face.. no bobber needed. If you use live shinners your going to catch fish that are probably too big for your tank.
Ok and let me ask one more thing were is the best spot by Crome and 8th st or in that area to catch something
krome and 8th is fine. There are a lot of cichlids in there. Fish tight to the shore and tight to weed lines. Nightcrawlers are too big. Use a piece if you choose to use those, not the whole thing. Red worms are better. Ill be in there area tomorrow catching up a storm!
If you're not a crazy person that's gonna murder or mug me and dump me in a canal. I'll be starting in Miramar probably close to 10 and working my way south.
