How to Catch Gar?

nice gars can some on post a pic up on hot u would have the frayed nylon rope and wat i would do to set it up?
I catch them all the time on a small bait fish with a treble hook, or a worm, just let them chew on it for a while. works everytime.
how did you enjoy the fight? I find it completely addicting. I used to be a huge bass fisherman, but I have turned into a crazed gar angler.

I like to use live medium sized minnows (native bait fish to where you are). I put a trailer hook behind the minnow because when they grab it with their agile beak, they don't get the hook in their mouth if it was just a nose hook.
u need a small top water lure (preferably one of those plugs with the lip that doesnt help them dive but just makes them wiggle) and real it real slowly... make sure the hooks r sharp as crap n small. Ull suddenly notice a V (wake) come up behind the lure... slow down a lil but keep it dancing n then they hit it... never take slack off the line! the second u give them some slack they r gone!
