how to clean sand

wll i just put 100 pounds of sand in and was wondering how can i clean the sand with a plython just seams that im pick up more sand than debris any ideas?

When I clean my sand bottomed tank, all I do is stir the sand around a little bit and let the debris settle on top of the sand and then take the gravel vac off the hose on the python and just use the hose and go around and suck up all the debris. Works like a charm!!

oh wait, ur suppose to stir up the sand first? i've always just sucked whatever was on top of the sand off.

I stir up the sand to release any air bubbles and stuff that get mixed up in the sand because of the fish. Just a precaution I take.

oh, i see, ya i got MTSs and yoyo loaches, it gets stirred up a-plenty

I stir the sand every other water change.

I was thinking about trying out sand in one of my aquariums and have never used it before, are there any cheap places that sale aquarium-safe sand other than the pet store?
