I dont think it can be fixed...

this is how it came out of the box. its just a piece of plastic so i didn't want to mess with it too much for fear of breaking it. i guess i will have to live with it.

Its easy. Lift the lid, pull it away from where its attached to the hinge. That hinge is rubber and attaches to the glass by squeezing it. Grab, pull slowly, when apart flip the glass around and push it back into the hinge. I pull my lids off for cleaning all the time.

Use a single edge razor blade.

i don't want to do this. i should have given more info on the original post. the handle is towards one edge of the glass and it's one of two lids on the tank. if i flip this around, one handle will be near the front and one will be near the back. not the symetrical look i was going for.

Try removing the lid from the tank and use some Goo Gone or like product to loosen up the glue that holds the handle.

oh that name makes me feel old. don't take that the wrong way. my sirius radio spends a fair amount of time in the 80's and on the hair band channel.

Yes, I'm in Medina.

You could also remove lid from tank, set it on a towel on a flat surface and use some denatured alcohol or acetone to loosen the adhesive. Or see if a hair dryer will soften the adhesive a bit. Just don't force the handle off.

If its glass and glue on it then it should be easy to come off with a heat gun. I never realized how useful they were until I started removing whole bunch stickers on cars, and even my t.v. Originally bought it to fix the YLOD on PS3.
After you remove it you'll have to find some adhesive to reapply it on.
