how to cut plastic egg crate for a tank divider

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just cut it with a kitchen knife, it was alittle annoying but it only took like 10 mins. And the diverider fit perfect! im so happy because i did not feel like cutting another one.

Tin Snips or a Hack saw, if I want to avoid the flying pieces of plastic.

Very fine tooth blade in a Jig Saw. Have to be very patient with it though.

I have found the easiest, most reliable way of cutting it to be a die grinder or cut off tool with a fresh disk......

ahhh beat me to it! pneumatic cut off tool slices right through with no mess or shards flying everywhere.

depends on your measurements. if you can get it to the point where your using solid squares then i have a 10 second trick. measure out the size you need and start cutting down about 3 squares. then take a wrench and let it slip into the path you just cut out. get some controlled momentum and slam it down. it will be a little messy but thats what cleaning is for.

i use wire cuters then hit the hindge with it and it comes right off you only lose one row =]
