Has anyone found a good way to do a Plywood, Liner, and Glass tank?

I need a big tank, and need it cheap.

All the builds I've seen so far are acrylic, but I have a large sheet of glass already sitting here.
And I want a single window, not 2 small ones like some other builds have

Thanks

As far as I know there is no difference in building a plywood tank with an acrylic window vs a plywood tank with a glass window.

There are approximately 400 threads on this particular forum showing very detailed step by step instructions with "8-by-10 color glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph explaining each one".

with acrylic, they typically drill through it and then seal and bolt it

i don't really want to drill 100 holes through 1/2" glass if i can avoid it

and i'm pretty sure they use a different "sealer" between the acrylic/liner vs. glass/liner

I've read a ton of DIY tank threads in this forum and I've never seen anyone drill and bolt their acrylic. Most people use silicone caulk for both glass and acrylic.

There is great information in these forums, but you have to read the threads to find it.

can u find me the link to one that used plywood, liner and glass?

i've looked and didn't find anything.

I bolted my twin windows in and sealed with 3m marine 5200.

For glass I would make a aluminum frame around it to hold the glass in, and the frame holds it to the tank. Seal the edges with 5200 then run a bead on the alum then cover the holes.

how big of a tank are you building? I'd like to see a thread on this too. I understand how to put the liner on the inside. But I dont know how to put it on the front panel where the glass would be installed. You wouldnt want to drill glass that many times. I know there was one thread where a guy told me he cut liner to the exact size of the inside pieces, then used Goop for the corners. He never mentioned the front...

I think NolaPete mentions a friend of his using liner, glass and no bolts in his previous monster thread.

Here, I found it for you.

Are pond liners really that much cheaper than other methods? Or do you already have one?
