i bought 10 golf ball size java moss and made them into one. i placed them in my new tank and put a driftwood on top of it to keep it in place. now the problem is.. some of the java moss are lossening up and going into my overflow box. any suggestion on how to keep them in one place? should i use some other method rather than the driftwood?:screwy:

This should be in the plant section.

I would just tie it down with some black cotton thread. It will root itself down onto the driftwood.

Are you certain it is java moss? Golfball sized is usually algae balls, which is different.

can you tell me where i can get that much moss, what did it cost ya bro. The stuff i have i tie it to wood with thread and it works good.!

I attached my java mos (and java fern) to a large rock because i am cheap. I used natural latex rubber bands (i have heaps left over from when i had braces) AND PUT THEM OVER the rock, I then tucked the java mos (and fern roots) under the rubber bands

with tying cotton or thread, i have had a few fish get caught in it, namely plecos, so you might want to be careful doing that

I use fishing line and after about a month I will cut and remove the line.

Try using cotton thread, it will break down after a little while. giving the plants just enough time to grab on and you dont have to worry about it. make sure its cotton though

actually what is cotton thread? as in cotton the one women use for face like cotton balls? or the wool of the filter? i'm not too good at these things. as much as i want a planted tank i'm dumb with it.:screwy:

You can use almost all kind of thread to attach javamoss, but you shall remove those who do not break down by themselves (after a month or two).
