Hello! I have a 125 gallon with (Four) filters. two penguin 350s a Eheim2217 and a cascade 1000. My water parameters are fine. My water is constanly turning GREEN. I believe its that floating algae. My tank is by the window just to let you guys know. So what I wanted to know was what were some of the best remidies to fix this problem? Thanks

Less light and UV sanitizer.

yup but instead of a sanitizer I prefer the sterilizer type of UV ;)

Also if it is just for green water you don't need anything too fancy a green machine would do the job just fine. Available at petsmart in a 9w or 24w version.

If you want it to kill parasites and bacteria/nasties Id say go for the coral life twist I got an 18 watter on my 90 gallon and it rules.

in my pond I was starting to have this problem. and my sterilizer wasnt cutting it. so i took a smaller rubbermaid container and shoved it full of pillow stuffing and made a DIY filter. literally overnight my pond is VERY clear looks like i just set it up

To kill the green water right away (short term because you by a window, it can/will come back) is to cover the tank with a blanket so no light enters the tank for a couple of days/stop or dramtically reduce your feedings for the same period. It will not harm your fish but will kill off the green water, algea.

Two things:
#1 - You need a UV sterilizer if you are going to leave this tank by a window, that's for sure.
#2 - If you are behind on your water changes, that could be a contributing facter to the bloom.

What are you water perams? Specifically nitrate/phosphates?

Which side of the tank is by the window? If it's the back or sides, just cover them. If it's the front...who needs windows anyway?

I agree . . . if at all possible, cover the sides of the tank that are by the window . . .

or . . . here's a novel idea . . . don't you have blinds or shades?
