So I finally got my new 240 in my house and set up. Noticed a small chip on the one edge but didn't think much of it. got the tank fully filled up ran to the rest room came back to find the whole front pain split in half and water rushing out.

I was able to control the drainage and got all the water picked up. So glad we bought a steam cleaner. Now my question is where do I go from here. I want to rebuild it, so will have to buy a new sheet of glass for the front (will take some time to save the money). I also figure with getting a new sheet of glass i might as well make this a show tank so ganna strip and redo my stand as well as finish the stands for my 270 and 200 since I will have a stand to move them to while i work on their stands. Anyways once i get the new glass do i need to reseal the entire tank or just the new piece. The previous owner just resealed it in august. Any suggestions, tips, Donations :naughty: would be greatly appreciated.

it was in my basement and i actually smashed out the missing triangle to direct the water into the 15 five gallon buckets i had waiting. Also due to the fact that i was home i was able to jump on the steam cleaner and get all the water out of the carpet and everything wiped down in 3 hours.

I would reseal the whole tank. Alot of water to trust a patch job. I would also think of putting some bracing on that tank. Good job it was in the basement. Thats where all big tanks should be.

You got lucky that you were home.

I don't even know what I'd do if I had one break like that. I'd be screwed.

No, he got lucky that it was in his basement!

Sorry to hear OP!

My first reaction was "holy ****"...
