Was this tank bought brand new from a store or what?

Nevermind.I just re read the opening post, good thing the tank was in the basement, this is one reason my big tanks are in my basement.

My wife would kill me if this happened.

I would definitely reseal the entire tank and possibly use a little thicker glass on the front piece.

so this tank is kinda a special one. not only does it have its glass panes for the sides and bottom and a fully braced glass top it also has these 2" wide strips of glass that go all along the bottom. I was told this was to give more surface area for the bottom to stick to the sides. is this really needed as none of my other glass tanks have had this. Also all my other glass tanks have had the the plastic trim that went around the tank and 1 to 3 strips to help braise the front and back. this one is comprised of a 2" wide strip that runs the whole length of the front and one that runs the center part of the back. it also has the 5 pieces of glass that run front to back. I want to make this a show tank so im wondering if i get the plastic with the plastic brasses for this tank if all that added weight and glass is needed. this tank is 8'X2'X2' and has as thick of glass as my 270 7'X2'X2.5'.

Really interested in what you all think.

Wow man, that really sucks!

I do applaud you for keeping your cool and getting it all cleaned up so fast though. If the same had happened to me I probably would have ended up smashing the rest of the tank out of anger, as well as taking way longer to get it all cleaned up.

Good luck on the rebuild.

I also had the help of this happening at 2 pm and my company Christmas party kicking off at 6. so I was on a time constraint. the thing keeping me in the hobby was this was that i got this tank with a few large cats and some stingrays by trading some cash and my 125. So it was a really good deal all the kids living in the 125 were small and fit in a spare 55 i had laying around. the rest filled the 270 nicely. This isnt the first tank i have resealed/rebuilt just the first I have had to replace glass over
