How to feed the African Tiger Pike(Hepsetus Odoe)? It is so skittish and the shrimp that I throw in sinks too quickly. It eats every 3 days and usually doesn't even attack the food when I throw it in. I feed it twice a day though but I usually have to scoop out the uneaten food. What to do?

Try crickets, thats what my pike eatss. Usually the other fish won't eat them so he'll go to the surface when he knows nobodys else will eat it. I had to move my P-bass because he couldn't compete with them for food...Still very neat fish I like them.

Feed less often, try every other day, you can also try live earthworms and crickets.

sad to say the best food for african pikes will be live feeders like molly and shrimp, have try chopped pieces of prawns, accept it sometimes only, the appetite of my pike is quite poor , had him for a about a year, so dont worry if he doesnt eat for 2-3 days.

Mine accepted shrimp, smelt, and feeders.

Yeah, and don't feed as often, try once a day.

how new is it? if its young start on live feeders mollies and also feeder shrimp, at about 6-8" then try fasting to make the switch to pellets or frozen foods.

My 10" odoe is skittish too. I feed it market prawns or frozen krill every other day. Sometimes it doesn't get to eat, because it's so afraid of my datnoids. Usually it does manage to snatch a prawn or chunk of krill. Krill definitely floats longer than prawns do, so your odoe's chances of getting some should increase. In my tank, there are lots of hungry bichirs and catfish down below to clean up. :)

mine too, but my atp will eat rosies in a sec. ate three today and is growing healthier by the day. next month will starve and switch to pellets and frozen foods. tell yall about it later.
