How to Feed Plecos Veggies

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do what fishguy does most the time. Small rock and a rubber band or 2 colored to blend in with whatever substrate the best I can. If I'm just using a small round cut piece of zucchini etc for a couple or less specimens, I generally will use a clip and jam it right down on the glass hugging the substrate or bottom. If long strips are needed for several plecs, the rock and a couple rubber bands gets used

The device's name is easy to remember. It's called the "Screwcumber"

I just bought these online. I put a fork in my tank and I'm sorry guys, but I just don't like the way it looks.

With this screw thing I can pack it full of veggies and hide most of it.

I appreciate the help. BTW - the only time I see my plecos is if I sneak in at night and peek at them!

Thanks,

Stephen

I was old school. I bought a flat piece of slate, then several rubber bands. Attached spinach leaves to the slate with the rubber bands, set it in the water. A few days later I removed the slate with a handful of fibrous veins left over. Slate was pretty heavy/stable so it didn't move around the tank even when my pleco was 10-12". Anything you can slice into long strips (e.g., cucumber) or that comes in large leaves (spinach, kale) works.

I push a chopstick through the center of a disc if zucchini or squash and jam the stick into the gravel so it doesn't float.
