How to fill a tank with a sump ?

I'll most likely get the tank from custom aquarium with one of their sumps. In some ways i wonder if it would just be easier to get an ultimate filter and skip the sump.

It really isn't that big of a deal. Do as Dave62 suggested. Leave the sump alone, drain the main tank and refill the main tank to the bottom of the weir and you'll be done unless you want to raise the height of water in the sump. You can change out as much water as you want.
