should I run the top row of tanks and bottom row of tanks into the sump seperately? I was going to T all the tanks overflow together to run one pvc into the sump. but then I got to thinking. What would stop the top tanks from back flowing into the bottom tanks. I don't know if you understand this one or not. Maybe I am just overthinking the whole thing.
i would split it because im not sure if they would drain fast enough if you use like 1 or 2 inch pipe to the sump.
if your pipe to the sump isnt big enough to handle the overflow rate of the tanks connected to it, I would expect the tanks to overflow(probably the bottom ones first).

this could be avoided by using a larger pipe that the 1 inch pipes(connected to each bulkhead) connect too. so bunch of small pipes connected to a big pipe.if that makes sense.

also it could be avoided, by adjusting the pump's return rate(by valves) to a level that can be handled buy the central overflow pipes.

I'd go with a manifold for both the drains and supply.

Be sure to add resistance to the output side of the pump, and do not starve the suction side of the pump. This is what is called cavitation, and will cause you premature wear, as well as be noisy as hell... ;)

if using a manifold for the output, turning down pressure to one tank is going to allow more pressure for the others, so really you aren't going to be adding any more stress on the pump, just gonna take a little playing with to get everything adjusted just right.

why not run them in series pump the outflow from the sump into the top tank and the outflow from that tank into the bottom tank. since they will use the same sump any way it should save some plumbing.
