I would bump the temp up to 84-86 F. Don't feed the African Aro til its full. After 1 week, the African Aro should eat pellets. ;) When it eats pellets, lower the temp down back to your original temp or else, it will be eating everything. :WHOA::nilly: My 18"-20" at 86 F ate almost everything I dropped in the tank.

its been a week of feeding only 1 blood worm cube a day along with pellets and shrimp but the afro is still being stubborn :( he just eats the pellets and shrimp then spits it out or it passes out through his gills.

ill probably try for another week, although i am afraid he might get too skinny eating only 1 cube a day

anyone have any other suggestions?

my 7" only ate tubifex and bloodworms. As soon as he got up to 9" he started eating market prawns. I didn't have any luck with pellets but what I do know, they get less picky when they're bigger. Just be patient, it will happen.

sounds good, are you chopping the prawns to tiny pieces?

Don't starve(those who suggest starving please understand this would be like starving a shrew for a day) I also have tried to get it onto pellets but to no avail, just try to "soak" pellets in the bloodworms for a couple of minutes see if eats that wish you luck.....

If it is taking the pellets in and then passing them through its gills that is a good sign. Most african arowana go through this with every new food, testing it out in their strange way. The more used to their current diet they are the less likely they will take right to it.

But if its going into the mouth, one of these days it won't come back out. Guaranteed.

yes i chop up the shrimp...they keep sucking on it then spit it out... takes a while but eventually they will consume the whole shrimp..
