So hey everyone! I have been fishing for carp for a while now (not to eat just to get a good fight), and I love how they look! I currently have some carp in my pond and was wondering what the best way to get them to start eating.

Here are some pictures but only one monster is currently in the pond with two smaller carps

One of the little ones!

Here is one of the monster carp which is almost the size of my leg!

So any way to get them to eat? I have once kept carp in my pond but it refused to eat ANYTHING I gave it and died . Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

My original advice was to starve it but since you tried that and it didnt work . With that said you should get some koi fish from your local pet shop . When you start feeding the koi it'll kinda teach the carp to eat also .

Thanks ill throw some huge gold fish from my other pond and maybe look for some sinking pellets cause they spend most of their time in at the bottom.

Ermm my gold fish are being shy and stupid. They wont go eat when I'm around so i dont know if the carp are eating ): there moving around when i sneak up on the pond so thats good news i guess?

Did you caught them on hooks? If so that's why they are skittish and shy. Another problem is that you caught adults....they are less likely to take prepared foods from you and most likely they will starving themselves.

you have three adults not junvies. They have a good reason to be skittish because you caught them on hooks. Perhaps you should be starting with really young carps instead of any carps over 16".

I have one adult that is about 30 inches a 13 inch in the picture and a 10 incher. A koi/carp get about 10 inches in their first year. I have been raising koi in ponds for a while. And a year old fish to me is a juvi IF it is a koi. Koi can live up to 200 years and i think a one year old carp is a juvi... For them to be adults i consider if they can breed. Even a 24 inch cannot breed properly. Carp reach full maturity in 3-4 years which will make them adults.

I also caught a bluegill on a hook and hes eating anything I throw in the fish tank and hes not skittish at all and he wants a bite of my finger.

I think you misjudge the size of the carps in the pictures. Either you have tiniest hands or the carps are already over 16". I've seen lot of carps are capable at spawning at 16" and full of eggs. So please dont bull****ting me that you have two 10" carps because I'm not buying it and the pictures don't lie. Perhaps they are spooky because of someone tied up them with the ropes (hint the first picture) and also they were hooked. I don't think you can compare the sunfish to the carps.
