How to get Florida Gar on pellets?

#1 Dont think of it as starving your fish, technically you are not starving it unless you dont provide a food source. I like to call it a "forced fasting"
#2 Read THIS, it should help alot! I have tried it and it works
#3 Crank up your water temp, this will help boost his metabolism and increase the hunger factor.
#4 DONT GIVE IN!!!! If you do it is like taking two steps back.

Only problem is that the other fish would steal everything first before he even got a chance to think about it. Maybe I should pull him out and put him in another tank until he learns to eat pellets?

can you list tank size and stock?

400 gallon and like 50 fish in there. lol Bigger flower horns, bocourti, buttikoferi, oscar, tilapia, pacu, midas, vieja argenteas, vieja reganis, jack dempseys, synspilums, etc. They are pigs.

I would definitely put him in another tank.

I'm gonna try those silversides first and see if I can get him to eat frozen anything first. Then he goes in another tank I guess if that doesn't work.

yeah thats some heavy competition, I would go ahead and put him in another tank.

I have another 125 that isn't set up yet. I guess I should get cranking on that now. Ugh.

It's always better to switch do dead fish or shrimp first. That way it isn't such a big difference for the gar.
So maybe I'd tie a bit of silverside to some fishing line and try to animate him to eat it. Good luck

I'll try a few different things I guess before I move him. I'd really like to keep him in the 400 if I can.
