how to get purple rocks???

purple is pimp'n lol i use purple up and had it growing on EVERYTHING in about a month. check out my album " some new fish " and you will see what my 10g looks like after 4 months on purple up
 
Actually there is a little more to the story.
First is phosphates. You have to make sure you have very low levels as phosphates prevent coraline algae from growing well.

Then, you do need to have Ca and Alk at the proper levels(preferably 400 ppm Ca and 9 or 10 DKH Alk) Magnesium level should be 1350ppm.

Then you should see normal and natural coraline growth.
Purple Up does help if you have low phosphates. Otherwise, you will not be satisfied.

To help maintain PO4 try getting some iron oxide PO4 resins. They work well.
 
time and consistency in water parameters is the best way, with the least potential drawbacks. That being said, I have used purple up with great success, just make sure you test your water for Ca and Alk. Consistency is the most important factor in growing anything marine.
