How to get rid of Blue-green algae?

I have some blue-green algae growing on my sand now. It was in a little area, I did a sand stir and it spread.

Best way to get rid of it?

BGA normally grows in new tanks where nitrates are still low. i found that it will go away on its own in a few weeks

is this a planted tank? my only experience with BGA is in planted tanks. if not, i dont know why you would even have it lol. but take a look at this link:

Nope not a planted tank.

I checked out the link and it looks like it's for sure BGA.

BGA is not an algae, its cyanobacteria. You can try using Maracyn to combat it after manually removing as much as possible. Be cautious of your biofilter using this treatment.http://www.plantgeek.net/article_viewer.php?id=9

No bottom feeders in the tank. The turtle would eat them.

Alright. I will go the Maracyn route if manual removal and a W/C doesn't do it.
